Upside Down Kingdom Closing

“God is not obligated to love us the way we think we should be loved. He loves us perfectly. Every time He moves in our lives, His timing and His ways are perfect. He knows our past, our present, and our future and He is in all of it. He knows exactly what we need before we can even speak it out.”

This series has been full of challenges: planting seeds of hope around us, working hard even when we have plenty, extending forgiveness like God has forgiven us, and understanding that God will ALWAYS come after us when we are lost. Not only has this series provided a multitude of challenges for expressing God’s love, but also has introduced a means for personal reflection.

“God loves me.”— is a statement that, even in its simplicity, holds the universe. I have been reminded of that statement each week of this series; it hits me over and over again, and each time I am astounded. The creator of this world, king of all kings, and lord of all lords, loves ME. He loves YOU. When you really look at the significance of that, how could you not be overwhelmed with who he really is? He didn’t need us—we don’t bring him anything that he could not do himself. Yet, he desires us, he wants us, and he comes after what he wants.

However, it’s unfair to withhold that unending love from the world we live in. Creating this “upside-down kingdom” requires that we take the love he extends to us, and outwardly release it. The last will be first, and the least will be greatest. We cannot forget what it was like being the last, or the least. His love is what has flipped that script in our own lives—so why wouldn’t we extend that grace on his behalf so that this entire universe sings glory to God? We learned that the joy in heaven over one soul’s recovery is worth more than any number of “righteous” people. And if I am correct, this world loves a good party, and I have a feeling that the parties in heaven are the best anyone could witness. So let’s bring that party to earth. Let’s show everyone that our God is not boring; our God is not incapable of anything; our God is merciful, loving, patient, and forgiving. Let’s plant those seeds so that the party can start. Let’s work harder to ensure that the party is everything it can be and more. Let’s forgive so that everyone feels welcome and invited. Let’s go after that one person who God chases after every day, like he chased after us.
